About the Author:
Wanda Brunstetter is an award-winning romance novelist who has led millions of readers to lose their heart in the Amish life. She is the author of almost 90 books with more than 10 million copies sold. Many of her books have landed on the top bestseller lists, including the New York Times, USA Today, Publisher's Weekly, CBA, ECPA, and CBD. Wanda is considered one of the founders of the Amish fiction genre, and her work has been covered by national publications, including Time Magazine and USA Today.
Wanda's fascination with the Amish culture developed when she met her husband, Richard, who grew up in a Mennonite church, and whose family has a Pennsylvania Dutch heritage. Meeting her new Mennonite sister-in-laws caused Wanda to yearn for the simpler life. In their travels, she and her husband have become close friends with many Amish people across America. Wanda's desire to explore their culture increased when she discovered that her great-great grandparents were part of the Anabaptist faith.
All of Wanda's novels are based on personal research intended to accurately portray the Amish way of life. Many of her books are well-read and trusted by the Amish, who credit her for giving readers a deeper understanding of the people and their customs.
Wanda's primary attraction to the Amish is their desire to live a devout Christian life that strives to honor God, work hard, and maintain close family ties. Whenever she visits her Amish friends, Wanda finds herself drawn to their peaceful lifestyle, sincerity, and close family ties, which is in stark contrast to the chaos and busyness that plagues so many modern "Englishers." Time and time again, Wanda loses her heart in the Amish life, and she hopes her readers will, too. For more information, visit: www.WandaBrunstetter.com
My Review:
My heart was so warmed by this well though out and inspirational fiction. So many people's stories were intertwined with this sweet Amish family of Heidi and Lyle. The fact that they were foster parents really touched me on a personal level, because it showed the beauty of adoption and how your child is your child whether they come to you naturally or through adoption. The most beautiful thing about this book was the faithfulness of God, how nobody and no family is perfect, and how the Lord can use even a cooking class to reach people with His love. All it takes to make an impact is to obey the Lord, and use the grace and mercy he's given you to give to others. The end was so satisfying and just made me smile. I felt like this series is truly one of a kind as it intertwines so many unrelated people's lives with the beauty of the Lord's love and will shown through His children. Unique & heart-warming, don't miss this special Amish fiction!

My Review:
How could my inner history nerd be thrilled more? A beautiful historical Christian fiction tells a most realistic depiction of life aboard the Mayflower from Holland/England to the New World, complete with the Native American interactions we've all read about. The crushing losses of Mary Elizabeth seem too much to bear for our character, but with the Lord, and perhaps the handsome William, this new adventure will turn out all right. I loved the sweet innocent romance that blossomed through the book. The action and inner thoughts of our characters really kept the plot moving. I felt the fear, the sorrow, the hope all our characters passed through from scene to scene. I loved how true historical characters were used to really make the book seem like I was stepping into a history book to meet the people who helped to found the country I am a part of. I felt like one of those weary but hopeful travelers, looking forward to perhaps the adventure of a lifetime where most importantly, I could finally serve my Lord in the way I knew was true. Don't miss this portrait of history as an experience for yourself!
